parametric acoustic walls
reasearch project at UPC University (ETSAV School) 2015
Design: Christos Mellios and Snezhina Shukina
Use of playwood material 1.2 mm to create acoustic walls. Its form can be controlled in order to acheive the best acoustic solution. Parallel to each other boards. The front side can be given one or more pattern and thanks to the pattern a deformation of the board is more easy to acheive. Both patterns are predefined in a Grasshopper Skript according to the curviture of the end geometry.

smartMESH
Arduino and Android Controlled Pneumatic Facade, part of Multimodal Media Madness 2014
Design: Snezhina Shukina
Software and Hardware: Hasan Ayhan and Tobias Welschenbach, Computer Science RWTH Aachen
The SmartMesh reacts to the outside and inside environment and ensures a pleasant indoor climate - thermal comfort. It controls the light and heat transfer between the inside and outside and also provides the inside with fresh air. The smart facade senses bad weather and closes in order to prevent for example inside water damages.
